UCPD’s Safety Surveys
Is your residence or office at higher risk of burglary and break-in? Contact UCPD’s Crime Prevention Unit for a Security Survey and an officer will meet with you to identify areas in your home or office that may need security improvement. They can show you how to safeguard your building or office against unlawful entry and theft and advise on how to get involved with the Building Watch program.

Building Watch Officer Program
The Building Watch Officer Program is an application of the neighborhood watch model adapted to a university setting. The program increases communication between the Police Department and those who regularly work or live on campus property, to facilitate services that are building-specific and appropriate, and to increase resident awareness.
In over 70 campus buildings, Building Watch Officers will do the following:
-
Make regular visits to participating buildings in order to provide a visible police presence and stay familiar with building users and building issues.
-
Work with Building Coordinators by email to review incidents and crime trends and recommend risk reduction measures.
-
Distribute safety education materials to the building.
-
Coordinate crime prevention presentations and/or informal Q&A sessions for building occupants.
